Rotary International

I have been a member of Rotary International for over 8 years, and spent on average ten hours every week volunteering. I was a club secretary for several years, published weekly newsletters, created and maintained websites, tended the bar, worked at festivals, remodeled in homeless shelters, built a BBQ grill, and planted flowers. I made lasting friendships while volunteering, and expanded my knowledge about the realities of the American life. I am a member of the Rotary Club of Phoenix East, but I am taking a break from additional responsibilities with Rotary so I can focus on what's more relevant in my new life with a small child.

YMCAI became a member of the YMCA in Tempe, AZ, where we moved in 2017. This charitable organization was a great fit for my lifestyle with a child, was not rigidly impersonal, corporate and scripted, and made me feel welcome regardless of my accent. I am still learning of many helpful programs that they have for various ages and lifestyles, and how much help they offer to make parenthood less monotonous.
